How We H.E.A.L.
This weekend I had the pleasure of participating in a chakra walk, and it was one of the most profound healing exercises I’ve ever done. As my reiki teacher guided us through each chakra representing a different stage in our lives; I was overcome with emotions. Some of those emotions were elation, sadness, hope, disappointment, optimism, and surprisingly regret. As the feeling of regret began to overtake me, my reiki teacher intuitively said “what will you choose to do with your next breath? Knowing the lessons you’ve learned, how will you explore what you can do now.” This brief and succinct statement pulled me out of my negative feelings and highlighted the fact that each day I can make new choices that move me closer towards the life I am destined to live. But in order to do that I must practice a transformational 4 step process to achieve my desired life, and that is to H.E.A.L.
Ok, so by now you know Ama loves her an acronym...and H.E.A.L. stands for How, Explore, Align, and Live/Love. Let’s dive right in. Ask yourself how will you move forward towards the life you desire. How will you get there? What will you do differently, and why do you deserve this life? Knowing the answers to these questions will affirm your place in this life and solidify your right to live happy, healthy, and whole.
When you discover how it’s time to move on to the next phase, which is to explore. One of my favorite African proverbs is there is more than one way to the market. This is also true of your journey. There’s more than one way to arrive at the life you desire. Get curious and explore. Be open to new experiences, be open to new possibilities, say yes to new opportunities, and say yes to allowing yourself to be loved and give love to others.
While you explore your curiosity begin to align. Align yourself with the person you are growing into. One of the best quotes I’ve heard is that your habits must match your desires. That is the best definition of alignment. Pay attention to what you do, who you are, and where you’re going, and consciously eliminate any space between those things. Remove self imposed barriers that stand in your way, and resist any external booby traps that are meant to keep you trapped in a repetitive cycle of your past.
Lastly, open up your heart to living and loving. Living is loving and loving is living. Open up that space in your life that has been closed off due to fear, insecurity, disappointment, betrayal and rejection. When you open yourself up to life, you make a decision to live with love, joy, and gratitude. So enjoy your adventure and remember the words of my reiki teacher-- what will you choose to do with your next breath?
